Mohith standing in front of a lake

bStrong Bellevue has been a game-changer in my fitness journey. Not only did I shed over 40 pounds, but I also developed a profound love for strength training and powerlifting, thanks to their incredible support and expert guidance.

The trainers at bStrong Bellevue crafted a tailored workout plan that was both challenging and achievable, keeping me motivated throughout. Their guidance and encouragement were instrumental in my success and made every visit enjoyable.

As I progressed, I found a new passion in powerlifting, which I never thought I’d embrace. bStrong Bellevue introduced me to the sport, teaching me proper techniques and guiding me through structured training programs. Today, I not only have a transformed body but also a newfound confidence and strength, thanks to this remarkable community.

BStrong is a place we’ve found significant progress in our strength and accountability for consistently attending classes. While the main lifts are the same throughout the four-week cycles, the workouts switch up to avoid monotony, which is so helpful when getting to the gym is a struggle.

The owners, Ben and Kyle, are very friendly, approachable and encouraging. They run the gym in a manner that shows how much they care about the well-being of their members and their business.

The trainers are well-versed in proper form and great about helping individuals attain the best form for how their bodies move. They are motivating without pushing beyond a member’s limits, and they keep the overall class environment fun.

In short: come for the great workouts, stay for the awesome community!

I never really thought of myself as a gym person, but bStrong is not your typical gym. When I first started, I was trying out a bunch of gyms in the area and bStrong really stood out as a welcoming space. The coaches are super approachable and the small group training format provides individualized attention. When I was recovering from surgery, coaches were always prepared to offer up alternative exercises when I needed them and they helped me rebuild my strength safely.

What I love most about being a bStrong regular is how much stronger I feel. I am able to keep up with my kids and even help move some furniture. When I started, I had never deadlifted before and now I can deadlift my own body weight!

Bill and Jim at the Grand Canyon

We first started going to bStrong primarily because of its convenient location in downtown Bellevue.  We belonged to multiple gyms at the time but bStrong quickly became THE gym.

We immediately felt very comfortable here thanks to the enthusiastic owners (Ben and Kyle), knowledgeable trainers, and friendly gym members.  The workouts are structured to be challenging but not overwhelming and the supportive members create a “we’re in this together” atmosphere.

All of the trainers are great about modifying the workouts as needed to accommodate members who have a physical limitation or are recovering from an injury.  The gym also offers nutritional guidance and periodic fitness challenges to help keep us motivated.  bStrong is large enough to meet the fitness needs of a wide range of people without being so big that you get lost in the crowd.  We really enjoy being part of this community and are happy with the results we’ve achieved from being members.

Deborah flexing with Coach Tru while she's celebrating a milestone workout

I joined bStrong after a long hiatus from exercise, looking to get back on track. Initially, I chose them because they were conveniently located, but I quickly discovered they weren’t a typical gym. Their approach is rooted in community, which to me has been the biggest factor in exercising consistently.

The trainers know you by name, listen to your goals, cheer you on, and push you when you need it, no matter where you are in your fitness journey. One year in and the results are apparent — from body composition to the amount of weight I’m able to lift!

I joined bStrong in 2016, and it’s truly been a life-changing experience. Initially, I was just looking for a convenient gym location as I was balancing a busy schedule with my medical training, however, I’ve gained so much more.

Fast forward, eight years later, bStrong has become an integral part of my life. Training at bStrong has changed my relationship with health and exercise, creating a well-balanced, sustainable lifestyle without the sacrifices of restriction or elimination. Small group strength training has been empowering, and the coaches are so dedicated to helping us succeed in whatever our goals may be.

Ultimately, this community has given me the confidence to grow and succeed in so many aspects of my life. I’m incredibly grateful for this welcoming community and the lifelong friendships I’ve made along the way. Thank you, bStrong!

Jeremy standing with his son after a race

The trainers and small group format are awesome for keeping me motivated over the long term!  A lot of thought goes into the exercise circuit and individual weights for each session, and they are chunked up nicely so 50 minutes seems to fly by. All of the trainers have great industry knowledge as well as a long tenure at bStrong.  Best of all they are super nice and helpful, without being condescending or overly-intense.

Having a regularly scheduled time really helps me stay on track, since “planning” to go to the gym never worked for me over the long-term.  There’s something about having a date/time booked that helps me prioritize working out, and when something pops up that I can’t move it’s easy to re-book for another session.

All of these aspects have helped me stay on track for over 2.5 years now – something that would never have been possible if I was doing it on my own.  I feel so much better mentally/physically and enjoy my time at bStrong every week!

Christine ready to run her marathon.

When I first moved to Washington, I tried a bunch of different gyms and group training places. At all the various other places, I felt like I was injuring myself doing exercises wrong and not pushing myself to grow. I never felt like coaches cared about me. That was until I stumbled upon bStrong and I’m so glad I did.

The community here is so welcoming and friendly. The coaches listen to concerns, have an eye for detail, value correct form, and encourage you to be the best version of yourself. I feel seen as an individual at this gym. Because of the way small group training is structured, I’m never bored with the exercises and have a quantitive way to measure my growth (#numbers nerd here). bStrong is like a second home to me <3

I love this place! The coaches are knowledgeable and have college degrees in their field. Perhaps just as importantly, it’s a friendly atmosphere. Everyone is welcome and you can feel that when you walk in the door. Also, the format is fairly flexible in that the exercises can be made more advanced or simplified to suit people at different levels of fitness.

I’ve been going here for ten years. With the support and the training at the gym, I’ve completed a half marathon and several endurance obstacle races.

We are so glad we joined bStrong! The community members & coaches are really supportive & friendly. We love the small group style workouts because you get individual attention at a much more affordable cost than personal coaching, everyone is at a different level so it never feels competitive or too bro-y, and the structure & style helps keep you accountable and building strength over time.

We’re really proud of how far we’ve come over a year of training here and can feel the benefits in our life outside the gym – from more stamina while hiking, to being able to lift our heavy furniture, to just looking & feeling a lot stronger! bStrong is the best gym we’ve been to!

Amy and Coach Charles holding a milestone board celebrating Amy's 100th bStrong workout

bStrong Bellevue is AMAZING! First, let me start by saying, if you want to get into shape, whether that includes losing weight, building muscle, getting toned, or just being part of an active community that supports each other, bStrong is the place for you!

The coaches are phenomenal – encouraging, kind, supportive, and fun! Every workout is different and challenging, one that keeps you interested and excited, yet, completely comfortable showing up week after week.

And let me tell you what bStrong it is NOT – it is NOT a superficial gym, full of gym rats who want to show off their six packs, tight abs, or voluptuous booty (even though, mind you, you will eventually achieve those if that is what you’re looking for)! It’s NOT a place of competition, other than with yourself. And mostly, it’s NOT a place where you leave feeling bad about yourself.

It IS, however, a supportive, welcoming, and all-around awesome place to become your better self. I can’t say enough about what this gym has meant to me. I hope you all will give it a try.

Arun standing with Kyle and Ben, celebrating 5 years that he's been a bStrong member.

Finding bStrong and the bStrong community has probably been one of the best things to happen to me after moving to the PNW. My corporate housing was in the same complex as the gym and I tried it out. I have been hooked ever since (June 2017!!!).

They have been so supportive of my journey through kids, job changes, the pandemic, and injuries! I honestly can’t speak highly enough of how they have evolved their classes over the years and the care and effort they take for each and every person that comes into the gym. I just can’t imagine going anywhere else.

Nandhini at Mason Lake during one of our bStrong hikes

I joined bStrong to figure out how to put on muscle. Strength training had been pretty intimidating to me for years but now I LOVE IT. The coaches are so knowledgeable and perceptive, but what really stood out to me was how empathetic, encouraging, and earnest they are. I truly feel like I’ve developed a unique relationship with each coach and them with us. Then, of course, I have learned and grown a ton since I joined.

I can now deadlift more than my body weight!! Ben and Kyle design really effective workouts that highlight three essential exercises (squat, bench, deadlift) but the circuits are versatile and full-body oriented. Also, they really leverage the assortment of equipment they have, so you’ll never get bored and find out different ways to challenge yourself.

On top of the gym experience itself, the social activities and opportunities to bond with the community are plentiful. It’s so enlivening to meet other trainees and then see them in class. We all motivate each other and everyone makes classes so welcoming and fun!

Willis conquering an obstacle during an adventure race

In December 2021, I –like many folks who set New Year resolutions– decided to finally start my fitness journey. I had seen the Bstrong Bellevue sign as I drove through the downtown Bellevue area and figured it would be a “new year and new me” type of effort, so I gave them a call.

My goal was to get stronger but I had no experience with strength training, dumbbells, barbells, other gym apparatus… and overall felt little to no confidence in what I would do if I went into a traditional gym. I spoke with Ben and decided on the introductory package with one-on-one sessions. It was a great experience as I was able to have individual sessions with three different personal trainers: Hannah, Moses, and Charles. Each of them was knowledgeable, had detailed programs, and checked in on my individual needs, such as if I had any injuries, what I wanted to work on, and how I could achieve my goals.

After that, I started small group workouts to complement weekly individual personal training sessions. Small group training is fun because it balances strength training with various full-body functional training exercises to make sure we get a balanced workout. I find small group sessions are great to focus on your workout, meet new people, and develop discipline.

I am now two years into training and what felt scary before has now become ingrained in my life. It has enhanced all the activities I want to do; I’ve been able to more steadily hike tougher routes, including the Enchantments through hike, and I’ve been able to complete more obstacles in multiple Spartan races that I wasn’t able to complete before. I feel like my time at Bstrong has given me a lot of confidence and enabled me to achieve and reach for new goals.

Holly standing in front of a foggy lookout during a hike

With a background in competitive sports, staying active has always been a priority in my life. I have been working out with bStrong since 2018 and thanks to them, have been able to maintain a consistent routine in weight lifting and cardio exercises.

The coaches not only take the time to teach proper technique but they also make the effort to get to know us as a whole person outside of someone who just comes in to work out. The community here is like no other, I not only look forward to coming for the workouts but also interacting with the other members!

Since being at BStrong, I have been able to set new personal records in the back squat and bench press, something I didn’t think I would be able to do after having kids and working a full-time job. Grateful to be a part of this community and looking forward to more of the challenges BStrong has to offer.

Robert posing with Coach Kyle and Coach Ben celebrating his 350th bStrong workout

Coming up on my 4th year at Bstrong, I find myself loving the small group training, the dedication from the coaches, and the fun events organized among the community more and more. To me, bStrong isn’t just another gym down the street, it’s my “happy place” to jump-start the day, to chat with my gym buddies, and most importantly, to motivate each other to achieve our fitness goals.

Kip and Coach Philip flexing while holding the milestone board and celebrating Kip's 100th bStrong workout

I think everyone knows and feels that the pandemic was rough. It took a toll on everyday living. It impacted my mental health and in turn, physical health. In addition, I had graduated from college in which I went from an active lifestyle with walking everywhere to class, to a more sedentary role in general with WFH mandates where I walk from my bed to the desk <6 ft away.

I tried multiple roads to lose health. Keto diets, trying to eat one meal a day, or even just trying more cardio workouts. And with all the same outcome – I would see results, but then I’d incur some injury that would require rest time and breaks and gaining back what I lost. With this in mind, I decided to take a different approach. I was always concerned with short-term goals. What I needed was a longer-term lifestyle change.

So, with a bit of introspection, I realized I needed structure to keep me accountable, and coaches to ensure I was doing the exercises correctly since I am kind of injury prone. This is where I landed into strength training, and as a bonus, I learned that I could raise my RMR (resting metabolic rate) by gaining muscle, since my career will have me in a sedentary setting for the foreseeable future. So, after learning all the benefits of strength training are, I searched the web for “personal training Bellevue,”

After comparing a few gyms, bStrong stood out as the first choice for me to try. They offered a small group training which is a perfect balance in cost effectiveness, as well as enough personal attention to function 1:1 training. After a 2-week trial, I found all of the coaches and trainers to be helpful, kind, and motivational. This is when I knew that this would be the program for me.

I was anxious and nervous at first to commit to such a routine, but after accomplishing 100+ workouts, I realized I was glad I did Day 1, instead of saying one day. As the saying goes, the best day to start was yesterday, second best day to start is today, and if you are looking for your today, bStrong is definitely the place to start!

Member Jacques on a hike

You can always go to a gym. But being a part of a community is special. I have been a part of the bStrong Bellevue community for about three years, and can’t imagine going anywhere else. I still have a lot of progress to be made, but if you asked me three years before if I could do push-ups, or if I even enjoyed working out, you’d get a different answer.

bStrong has transformed me in more ways than one. Like many, I used to dread working out. And I never believed I was capable of doing the exercises that I do now. It’s always a challenging workout, but I feel stronger and more determined each time.

The owners, Ben and Kyle, are encouraging and motivational – and most of all, they care about everyone who sets foot into this community. Most owners of a gym just care about making money. But it’s clear that Ben and Kyle want people to be the best versions of themselves. Though being your best may take some time and hard work, I know I will bStrong with the ongoing support I’ve received at the bStrong Bellevue community.

Winnie standing while holding two colorful bouquets of flowers

Let’s cut to the chase: unlike many other gyms out there being picky with members, Bstrong is an excellent fit for all with various training backgrounds, different fitness goals, and want to feel healthy. Owners Ben and Kyle have devoted their time and love to running this welcoming community. I joined in late 2019; for over four years, “showing up” to the class has gone from surviving rising early to something as routine as ordering boba tea with no sugar 🙂

Here at Bstrong, there are fun workout plans, clean facilities, people who take their fitness goals as seriously as I do, coaches who care and love what they do, and my great friends; there are no criticisms, judgments, or drama.

The logic is straightforward: show up, survive, and get fit.

I joined bStrong 5 years ago with the goal of being consistent with exercise, increase strength, and lose weight. When I started here, I had a non-existent exercise routine and a really poor diet. Not only did I neglect exercise, but also indulged in mindless eating throughout the day. My time at bStrong has helped me in 2 areas the most – physical fitness and mindful nutrition.

As soon as I joined the strength classes at bStrong, I could see a marked improvement in my fitness week over week. I realized that consistency was easy to achieve since the classes were well-organized, had a great mix of people, and the instructors provided awesome instructions.

All of the trainers amazing, and really easy to follow. They’ve hosted “body fat measurement scans” and “nutritional bootcamps,” which helped me understand how nutrition goals should be set, how to think about macronutrients and micronutrients, and how to create a sustainable lifestyle. The key to any progress is awareness, the rest is just execution. I’m thankful to bStrong for providing me with much-needed awareness around how to maintain a sustainable and healthy lifestyle.

Over the last 5 years, I’ve lost 20 lbs, gained a bunch of muscle, ran my first 5k, 10k, and half-marathon due to the foundational fitness provided by these guys. I can confidently say that this is the fittest I’ve ever been, and will continue my journey to being sustainably healthy with bStrong. I can’t thank these guys enough!

Janny refueling after half marathon

I have been coming here for 8 years now and always look forward to my workouts. The main reasons are the coaches, who make you feel welcome and I truly feel like they care.

I have low back issues, but I love lifting weights. They always make sure that I am feeling 100% going into the lifts, and let me know that there are alternate exercises if I am not feeling good. I am so glad to be a member here, more than ever—because the workouts have really helped with my mental state during this pandemic.

Sancharz head shot

I have been going to this gym regularly since I live nearby. It’s the best in the area due to so many reasons. The workouts are very effective – I have become stronger this past year thanks to them (+ losing 20+ lbs 🙂). The instructors are very kind, attentive, and care about all the members.

I was especially touched during the initial days of the pandemic – they found ways to keep everyone active and healthy – virtual workouts, youtube workouts, regular articles on healthy living. The community is also fantastic – before the pandemic we used to have get-togethers occasionally, which I loved. Everyone is very kind. bStrong is not just a gym- it’s a fitness community ❤️

The coaches are amazing! They’re trained and certified professionals with a wide range of skills. Having gone through various physical obstacles – from a torn rotator cuff to a healthy pregnancy – the bStrong coaches have been able to help me with rehab and stay active through thoughtful modifications and check-ins. The coaches go above and beyond to make all members feel welcome and work with us closely to meet our goals.  Just don’t come train on your birthday – expect burpees 🙂

bStrong is not only a fantastic gym, but also a great community! I initially joined bStrong in 2016 because they offered a variety of different class styles and the bStrong coaches did a great job keeping each class feeling fresh by mixing up the routine. The coaches also prioritized good form and offered plenty of individual help and advice even in a group class setting.

What has kept me coming back to bStrong for several years is the sense of community with the coaches and other members – which makes working out much more fun and engaging. bStrong does a great job fostering this social aspect with their frequent events like BBQs and movie nights. All of this makes it feel like much more than just a gym. Simply put: great coaches, great classes, great members!

Kyle and Ben at bStrong Bellevue have created a uniquely welcoming and fun atmosphere. They know every class participant by name. The class instructors pay attention to participant form and tailor exercises toward individual goals, limitations, and injuries.

I have been primarily a runner in the past. The bStrong classes give me a workout that supplements the running – helping to strengthen my hips, quads, and hamstrings as well as my core and upper body.

The small group classes are almost like personal training sessions – you get the attention you need to make the workouts count. The gym has stayed strong during Covid and helped us all stay on track.

I’ve been so happy with the team at bStrong. I’ve tried a lot of different workout plans over the years, and none have had the encouragement, community, and gains that I’ve experienced during this last year at bStrong. The instructors are incredibly positive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The workouts vary just the right amount – so I feel like I’m making progress without getting stale. And the small group setting just makes all the difference in keeping me motivated – even early in the mornings!
